How to reduce swelling in feet during pregnancy home remedie

Swelling in feet and legs is very common during pregnancy, especially in the 7th, 8th and 9th month. In Pakistan, due to hot weather, this problem is even more common. It is usually normal, but sometimes it can be a sign of high blood pressure.

Here are some easy home remedies to reduce swelling in feet.

*1. Drink More Water*
Many women think drinking less water will reduce swelling, but it is wrong. When you drink less water, your body stores more water and swelling increases. Drink at least 10 glasses of water daily.

*2. Put Your Feet Up*
After doing housework, lie down and put your feet up on 2 pillows for 30 minutes, 2 times a day. This helps blood flow back and swelling will go down quickly.

*3. Reduce Salt (Namak)*
Do not eat too much salty food like papad, achaar, and chips. Too much salt stores water in body and increases swelling. Eat low salt food.

*4. Walk and Light Exercise*
Walk for 20 minutes daily in morning or evening. Do not stand for a long time in kitchen. If you have to stand, keep moving your feet.

*5. Wear Comfortable Clothes*
Wear soft, loose slippers. Do not wear tight shoes or tight socks. Wear loose clothes and cotton shalwar kameez.

*6. Cold Water Soak*
Soak your feet in cold water with a little salt for 15 minutes before sleeping. It gives instant relief and reduces pain.

*When to Worry?*
If swelling comes suddenly in face and hands too, and you have headache, blurred vision, or high blood pressure, go to doctor immediately. It can be a dangerous condition called preeclampsia.

*Conclusion*
Mild swelling is normal in pregnancy. By following these home tips, you can easily manage it at home.
