First 3 months of pregnancy precautions and tips for mothers


The first trimester (pehle 3 mahine) is the most sensitive time of pregnancy. Baby's brain, heart, and organs are forming during this time. Most miscarriages also happen in this period. So extra care is needed.


Here are important precautions for the first 3 months:


1. Start Folic Acid Immediately

As soon as you know you are pregnant, start folic acid tablet after consulting your doctor. It prevents baby's brain defects. It is the most important vitamin in first trimester.


2. Avoid Heavy Work and Travel

In Pakistan, women do a lot of housework. In first 3 months, avoid lifting heavy weight, bending too much, and long bike or rickshaw travel. Take complete rest and sleep 8 hours.


3. Avoid Stress and Tension

Stress affects baby's growth. Stay happy, pray, recite Quran, and stay away from negative people. Husband's support is very important in this time.


4. What to Eat in First Trimester

Eat small meals every 2-3 hours to avoid vomiting. Eat dry toast, biscuits, banana, yogurt, and fresh juice. Drink at least 8 glasses of water. Do not stay hungry.


5. When to See a Doctor Urgently

Go to doctor immediately if you have:

- Heavy bleeding

- Severe abdominal pain

- High fever

- Severe vomiting (cannot eat anything)

First 3 months are foundation. Take rest, eat healthy, and take your medicines on time.
